Facts About IUB

The Islamia University Of Bahawalpur also knows as IUB BWP is the public university and only largest university in Bahawalpur that is Pakistan's 12th biggest city. If we talk about the foundation, we come to know that IUB was founded in 1925 but its name was "Jamia Abbasia" at that time. It was the religious university that followed the academic pursuits of Al-Azhar University in Egypt. Initially, university occupied only Abbasia Campus (now know as old campus) and Khawaja Fareed Campus (also known ass Railway Campus). Later, it was allotted 1280 acres sand land on Hasilpur Road. This site is almost eight kilometers away from the city center. In 1975, the University was declared as "The Islamia University Bahawalpur".

Following are the sub-campuses of IUB Bahawalpur in three different cities (Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan)

Now we should move to the core part of this article that why one should or shouldn't choose IUB for admission. Currently, I am the student of Islamia University in the session 2014-2018. So, I will describe some of the facts on the basis of my knowledge and experience.

First of all, we talk about the good things of the university. No doubt every picture has two sides, bright and dark. So, we are going to discuss the bright aspects of IUB Bahawalpur.

Security System:

I must appreciate the security in-charge and all of the team members for creating very secure and peaceful environment in the university. There are almost 500 security guards that are performing their duties well 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Moreover, mobile vehicles are also on duty to make sure that there is no mishap among the students inside the university.

Ideal Transport System:

There are three campuses in three different sides of the Bahawalpur. IUB transport system makes sure the access of every student to all of the three campuses through university buses. In the working days, after every 30 minutes, university buses move through the specific routes to cover maximum area of the city to facilitate each individual student. Moreover, University purchased four new buses to make services better.

One of the most beautiful places in Baghdad-Ul-Jadeed Campus is its central library. It is fully furnished in term of furniture, books and other services. This double story building of library is completely decorated with Air Conditioning System to make it cool and comfortable in summer seasons. So, one active line becomes the alternate of a deadline and make the availability of energy most of the time. Generators are also arranged as a backup.

I must appreciate Khalil Ahmad who directed me to pay attention to this valued service for special students of IUB. There are some special vehicles which are always ready to serve. Students are allowed to text the driver if they want to go anywhere for any purpose. Moreover, theses vehicles are responsible for picking students from the hostel and drop to their respective departments and vice versa.

Outdated Syllabus: 

IUB Syllabus Review

University is not providing students with the latest knowledge. The old syllabus is followed all the time that creates difficulties for students in the future because there is very tough competition among universities and their students.

Get Degree but No Skills: 

Get Skills | Be Skillful 

No doubt IUB will give you the approved degree after completion of your academic session but there is no guarantee for skills improvement. Students have to join academies or software houses to get skills-set.

No Practical Work:  

Lack of Practical Work

Not all the departments, but most of them lack practical work. The biggest example is DCS&IT (Department of Computer Science & IT) which owns 5 computer labs but none of them is working. These labs are used as a common lecture room. You don't have the opportunity to do any practical work in these labs. Moreover, students are not allowed to go to any other department's lab.

Move On Your Feet:

Students are not allowed to take their bikes or vehicles inside the university. They have to park in central parking near the main gate and move on feet towards their department. You have to cover several kilometers area through walking, regardless of weather intensity. Obviously, it is very tough job, especially in summer. 

No Summer System: One of the biggest drawbacks is that there is No Summer System. It means you have no chance to improve your grades and CGPA. There is no opportunity for failed students to get recovered earlier.

Fewer Job Opportunities:

There are almost no job fairs in the universities. Not any company or organization come to the university to provide the eligible and talented students with job opportunities.

Blackmailing Teaching Staff:

It is worst and shameful for me to describe university in such a way but we cannot deny the fact. There are many of the male teachers or staff members that capture any weak point of the female students and start blackmailing them.

No Festivals: University administration does not support any kind of festivals like Entrepreneur, Exhibitions, Sports Gala, Farewell or welcome parties and so on. Students have to get approval from more than 3 or 4 authorities for arranging any positive festival/activity in the university. All the administration has the lame excuse that is "Security Threat". So, students are not easily allowed to arrange any co-curricular or extracurricular activities.
