ISO image of a window is used for several purposes but one important object is to create a boot-able USB with the ISO image. Making an ISO image form windows DVD is not a big task. I am posting this article because many of my friends ask me to make their USB boot-able because they do not know how to make ISO image and then extract it to USB with booting property.
Basically this whole procedure consists of the following two parts:
- Making an ISO image from windows DVD
- Extracting ISO image to USB with booting property
Here you will get the detailed discussion for first part. After understanding the procedure to create an boot-able ISO image, you can proceed to the second step to create boot-able USB to install window.
Get Necessary Tools
You need to have only three things before making an ISO image of window from DVD.
- ISO Creator (Click Here To Download Magic ISO + Serial Key [Size: 2.92 MB])
- Scratch proof DVD for desired window (XP, 7, Vista, 8 or 10)
- A working DVD-Rom to read the disk.
Lets Start
If you have the above mentioned tools then you may proceed without any hesitation. You just need to follow the below mentioned steps.
- After downloading, installing and registering, just open "MagicISO".
- Insert your window DVD in the Rom and wait for its loading.
- Now go to "MagicISO", navigate to "File" >> "Open CD/DVD Drive" and select your drive.
- Here, you will see all the files of window. The tag "Non-Bootable" will be changed to "Bootable". It means you are going to create a boot-able ISO image. (That's good).
- Now again go to "File" >> click on "Save As".
- A pop-up window will open to set the destination folder to save your ISO image.
- Write a name for the ISO image and click on "Save".
Let the process complete. It may take 10-20 minutes depending on the speed of your computer and performance of DVD-Rom. After the completion of this process, you will see a packed ISO file of window. This is your Bootable ISO image.
If you want but don't know to use this ISO image to make a boot-able USB, then go to the step 2 of this procedure.
